“Over 600 Nigerians killed in two years”- PDP slams APC on Insecurity and Economic hardship

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the 2027 general elections will serve as a “referendum on the failures” of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.

The PDP criticized the APC’s management of insecurity, economic hardship, and overall governance, pledging to hold the government responsible for its deficiencies.

This stance was articulated by Debo Ologunagba, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday. Ologunagba emphasized that the PDP is positioning itself as a viable alternative, aiming to “rescue Nigeria from what he called the APC’s misguided policies and propaganda.”

He highlighted the APC government’s perceived inability to tackle significant national challenges, specifically pointing to increasing insecurity and economic difficulties.

The PDP spokesperson revealed that “more than 600 Nigerians have been killed in the last two years,” and accused the government of indifference to the suffering of its citizens.

Ologunagba said: “In two years, over 600 Nigerians have been killed. That’s on record. This government celebrates defection like it’s celebrating successful policy, that’s an indictment.”

The PDP chieftain also lambasted the APC’s economic strategies, questioning the justification behind the “$24.5 billion loan request to cushion the effects of subsidy removal.” He contended that the government has failed to produce concrete results, leaving “over 100 million Nigerians to survive on less than $2 a day.”

“The president asked for a $24.5 billion loan to cushion the effect of subsidy removal, two years after. Where is the money? We were told subsidy removal would free up funds, where are the results.”

Regarding democracy, Ologunagba condemned the APC’s alleged inclination towards a one-party state, characterizing it as a danger to Nigeria’s democratic system. He reaffirmed the PDP’s dedication to multi-party democracy and underscored the importance of a strong opposition and accountability.
