I don’t know where I will be tomorrow, whether PDP, APC, or YPP – Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno hints on possible defection
Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has sparked fresh speculation about a potential defection, hinting at political uncertainty during a Thanksgiving Service held in his honour at The Apostolic Church, Maboju Assembly in Lagos.
“I don’t know where I’ll be tomorrow, whether PDP, APC, or YPP. These are just for political convenience and enlightened state interest. But it will never define who I am,” the governor said. He promised, however, that his identity as a governor would not change regardless of the party he aligns with in the future. “I will remain a governor connected to the people, regardless of party. I will continue to unite all our parties, regardless of where God will take me to. That is not to say I am going anywhere,” he clarified.
In a reflective moment, Eno sang the hymn “Oh, the future lies before me”, expressing faith amid uncertainty about his political path. Though he didn’t specify his next move, the governor encouraged attendees to stay attuned to changing political tides, referencing the biblical “children of Issachar” who understood the times.
He urged the congregation not to fear the future, emphasizing the importance of discernment in political seasons. Eno concluded with a spiritual appeal, saying, “He that has ears, let him hear what the spirit says to the church.”
The service was attended by his children, political allies, and business leaders. Eno also likened his return to the church to Jacob’s return to Bethel, a gesture of gratitude for divine guidance throughout his journey.
