EFCC arrests Aisha Achimugu at Abuja Airport
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested prominent businesswoman and socialite, Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu.
According to a statement from her legal team on Tuesday, Achimugu was taken into custody around 5 a.m. after voluntarily returning to Nigeria from London. Her lawyers noted that she had already indicated in court filings that she planned to report to the EFCC in relation to an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal conspiracy and money laundering.
Earlier, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Inyang Ekwo, had ordered Achimugu to appear before the EFCC on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, and to be present in court on Wednesday, April 30, for further proceedings in the case.
