Nigerian girls rescued from sex trafficking in Ghana

Three Nigerian teenagers — Divine, Favour, and Bright, aged 17 to 19 — have been rescued from a sex trafficking ring in Ghana and returned safely to Nigeria, the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) confirmed.

Lured from Bayelsa and Ebonyi states with false promises of lucrative jobs, the girls were instead forced into sex work. They were received in Lagos and handed over to NAPTIP for counseling and reintegration.

NiDCOM Chairperson Abike Dabiri-Erewa stressed the need to expose traffickers, praising the Nigerian Embassy in Ghana, Chief Callistus Elozieuwa of NIDO Ghana, and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for their roles in the rescue.

Over 169 Nigerians have been rescued from similar trafficking schemes in Ghana in recent months.
