If you insult your leader, how can you ask him to do something for you – Sultan of Sokoto tells Nigerians to pray for their leaders

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, has advised Nigerians to express their grievances to leaders respectfully rather than using insults.

Speaking during his Sallah message after the Eid-el-Fitr prayer, he emphasized that polite communication increases the chances of leaders addressing concerns. He also urged continuous prayers for the President, governors, lawmakers, and local government officials to help them govern effectively.

The Sultan, who is also the President-General of the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, congratulated Muslims on completing Ramadan and encouraged them to uphold its virtues. He further praised Islamic preachers for their decorum during Ramadan Tafsir and urged them to continue the practice.

He said; “If you insult your leader, how can you ask him to do something for you?

“But if you tell him your problems in a polite manner,  I am sure he will  listen to you and even do the needful.”

“Pray for Mr President, pray for your Governors, pray for your local government chairmen and pray for your lawmakers so that God can pity them and assist them in discharging their responsibilities.

“You should also continue praying for peace, development and prosperity in our states and the country at large,” he said.
