”When I was being impeached, the President sent people to come and intervene on my behalf, Today, the President is impeaching the person” – Peter Obi speaks on state of emergency in Rivers State
Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, has recalled that during his tenure when he faced the threat of impeachment, then-President Olusegun Obasanjo intervened by sending emissaries to persuade the state’s House of Assembly members against proceeding with the process.
However, he pointed out that in present-day Nigeria, a similar situation is unfolding, but this time, it is President Tinubu who is actively pushing for the “impeachment.”
This is coming after the recent State of Emergency President Tinubu declared in Rivers state and the suspension of the governor, his deputy and members of the state House of Assembly.
He said; ‘’I became a governor through the court when President Obasanjo and Atiku were governor. I did not pay the court N1 . I was sitting in my house in the office and the court declared me winner. When I was being impeached, the President sent people to come and intervene on my behalf, beginning the House not to impeach me. Today, the President is impeaching the person”.
