Power will return to you in 2031 after Tinubu’s second term – Ganduje tells Northerners

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will run for re-election in 2027 and serve until 2031.

Speaking at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja while hosting members of the Tinubu Northern Youth Forum, Ganduje reiterated the party’s commitment to power rotation, assuring that after Tinubu’s tenure, leadership would shift back to the North.

“When a leader from the northern part of this country was in office for eight years, we advocated that the next president in our party should come from the South,” Ganduje said. “We worked very hard with the cooperation of Nigerians. Our president has come from the South and is going, insha Allah, for a second term in 2027. And after that, power will return to the northern part of this country.”

“Our president is doing very well. He is a reformer, he is a visionary leader, he is focused, and we are happy with his reforms because his reforms are absolutely necessary for the social and economic development of this country,” he said.

“There is no doubt so many things went wrong over a long period of time, and no doubt, it requires surgery before we can get it right.”

He also emphasized the APC National Working Committee’s (NWC) efforts in growing party membership and ensuring the government adheres to its manifesto. The support groups visited the APC headquarters to congratulate Ganduje on his appointment as Chairman of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and to strategize for the 2027 general elections.
