Nollywood, social media, prosperity preaching by religious institutions fueling get-rich-quick syndrome – Remi Tinubu
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has attributed Nigeria’s high rate of human trafficking to misleading messages from movies, social media, and some religious organizations promoting a get-rich-quick mentality.
Speaking on February 7 during a visit from NAPTIP’s Director-General, Binta Bello, at the State House in Abuja, she reaffirmed her support for the agency’s fight against human trafficking.
Mrs. Tinubu, who was briefed on NAPTIP’s recent raid on a baby factory in Abuja that rescued 19 pregnant girls, urged young people to reject shortcuts to wealth and instead embrace patience and hard work to avoid falling victim to traffickers.
“The get rich quick syndrome is not helping matters. Even our religious institutions are doing prosperity preaching and even the bible talks about work. Social media is also not helping. Nollywood as well”
