Stop praying against poverty, always affirm the positive – Nigerian woman shares advice on how to pray
A Nigerian woman, Teejay Tete, has sparked a thought-provoking conversation on the power of positive affirmations in prayer. In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, Teejay urged people to shift their prayer mindset by focusing on affirming positive outcomes rather than praying against negative situations.
“This spiritual insight isn’t for everyone, but those who need it will understand immediately. As much as possible, avoid praying against the negative. Instead, affirm the positive,” she wrote.
To clarify her perspective, Teejay provided practical examples. Instead of saying, “You will not die untimely,” she suggests declaring, “You will live long.” Similarly, rather than praying against poverty, she recommends praying for abundance.
Teejay explained that she avoids saying “Amen” to prayers framed negatively, as she believes mentioning the negative gives it unnecessary energy. “Rewire your mind to speak more life and positivity; it carries more power,” she added.
