Speed Darlington released on bail – Lawyer
Controversial rapper Darlington Okoye, also known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been granted bail by the Nigeria Police Force. His lawyer, Stanley Alieke, confirmed the news on Instagram, stating, “Akpi has been granted bail by the court.”
Darlington was arrested on November 27 while performing in Owerri, Imo State, allegedly due to his public accusations against Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy. His legal team claimed that Burna Boy orchestrated the arrest in retaliation for Darlington’s allegations of an improper relationship between Burna Boy and U.S. rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Before the bail, lawyer Deji Adeyanju had demanded Darlington’s release or arraignment within 48 hours.
“Our FREP application for Speed Darlington a.k.a has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail,” he wrote.
