I love my husband. I don’t want to leave him – Mother who was be@ten by her husband in Anambra says
A 27-year-old woman from Anambra State, recently found sleeping in a bush with her two children after allegedly being beaten and thrown out by her husband, has stated her intention to stay in the marriage.
Speaking with human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishu, the mother of two expressed her love for her husband and her desire to keep their family intact. The husband, in turn, pledged to change his behavior and promised to refrain from any further abuse, asserting his love for her as well.
Gwamnishu revealed that during his visit to investigate the case, the woman declined to let his team meet her husband, insisting that she did not want him to face punishment.
The Anambra State government has since taken over the case and will proceed with actions in line with state laws, emphasizing the importance of addressing domestic violence while safeguarding the welfare of the family
”WIFE BADLY BE@TEN BY HUSBAND IN AMAOKPARA, ANAMBRA STATE.
Regarding the criticism leveled against us for not arresting the husband, it is essential to examine the circumstances surrounding our visit to their home.
Upon arrival, the wife took measures to protect the husband, refusing to allow us to see him until we pressed the issue, at which point she presented him to us.
Throughout our interaction, she maintained that she wished to remain with her husband and asked that we not apprehend him.
Our primary focus was ensuring the woman received proper medical care, and we appreciate the Wife of the Anambra Governor’s intervention to provide further support to her and children.” Gwamnishu wrote said
