Davido speaks for other Nigerians who cannot feed – Kanayo defends Davido’s controversial statement on Nigerian economy
Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, has supported singer Davido’s recent remarks about Nigeria’s economic challenges.
During his appearance on the US-based podcast The Big Homies House, Davido described Nigeria’s economy as being in disarray, advising Black Americans against relocating to the country. His comments sparked widespread backlash, with many Nigerians criticizing him and demanding an apology.
In response, Kanayo defended Davido’s right to express his views, emphasizing that the singer’s remarks highlight the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians amid ongoing economic difficulties. The actor stressed the importance of free speech in addressing pressing national issues.
Kanayo in a video shared on Instagram said; “@davido spoke his mind, isn’t it? Respect his views too. The Adeleke’s can feed for life but it will be unholy if they assume all is ok because they are OK.
“Make una leave Davido alone over the comment he made. It is freedom of speech and he made the statement in good faith. It is left for those in power to work harder to give us a better Nigeria.
“Some people say he should apologize, for what? Those who criticize us want the best out of us. Davido speaks for other Nigerians who cannot feed.”
