Biafra: Simon Ekpa arrested in Finland
Finnish-Nigerian separatist agitator Simon Ekpa has been arrested in Finland on charges related to terrorism. Ekpa, who identifies as the Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile, was taken into custody by Finnish authorities, according to reports by BBC Pidgin and The Sun.
The Päijät-Häme District Court remanded Ekpa in prison on suspicion of public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent. Finnish Central Criminal Police confirmed the arrest, stating that Ekpa is the primary suspect, while four others were detained on allegations of financing terrorist activities.
The arrest follows public calls for action against Ekpa due to his alleged role in enforcing the Sit-At-Home directive, which has disrupted economic activities in Nigeria’s Southeast region. Finnish authorities added that claims against the suspects were heard in court on November 21.
