The cost of living is overwhelming Nigerians for survival – Osinbajo laments on hardship in the country
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize Nigerians’ welfare amid severe economic challenges.
Speaking at the 2024 Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) conference, Osinbajo highlighted the need for social welfare programs and affordable healthcare to help citizens cope with rising costs of essentials like food, transportation, and housing.
He emphasized the urgency of tackling food insecurity, particularly affecting vulnerable groups and children. Osinbajo also pointed to Nigeria’s literacy crisis, especially in the northern regions where over 67% of women are illiterate, noting that such social and economic disempowerment hinders national development. He called for comprehensive initiatives in literacy and economic empowerment to drive Nigeria’s progress.
