Nigerian Lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh Arraigned Over Alleged Assault on Bolt Drive

Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh, a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, was arraigned in court today following accusations of assault against a Bolt driver at his Abuja residence. Ikwechegh appeared before the Chief Magistrate Court in Kuje, Abuja, on October 30.

The case, prosecuted by the Special Investigation Unit of the Inspector General of Police, saw Ikwechegh facing charges of abuse of office, assault, and threat to life. In court, Ikwechegh entered a plea of not guilty.

Presiding over the case, Judge Abubakar Umar Sai’id granted the lawmaker bail, setting the amount at N500,000. The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 8
