Raise your daughters to be self sufficient, there is security in being independent – Singer, Simi tells Parents
Popular Nigerian singer, Simi, has shared advice for parents on raising their daughters.
In a video posted on her Instagram page, Simi encouraged parents to teach their daughters to take control of their financial future and not rely on others for support. She criticized the mindset of some parents who pray for their daughters to marry wealthy men, urging them instead to raise their girls to be independent and self-sufficient.
“Parents raise your daughters to be self sufficient and not to think that when they grow up, all they have to do is rely on someone to take care of them.
“There is security in being independent. A woman’s economic power is in fending for herself and being able to confidently acknowledge that she’s a complete person. Let them know that you are standing strong,” she said.
