Cabinet reshuffling has nothing to do with Nigerians, bring down the harsh conditions of living – Buba Galadima tells Tinubu

A prominent member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Buba Galadima, has voiced strong criticism over President Bola Tinubu’s proposed cabinet reshuffle, arguing that the move holds little relevance to the pressing concerns of Nigerians grappling with severe economic challenges.

Last week, the presidency announced Tinubu’s plans for a cabinet reshuffle, though no specific timeline was given by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. However, Galadima was quick to dismiss the significance of this potential change, suggesting that Nigerians are far more preoccupied with the harsh realities of daily life than with government appointments. He accused some of Tinubu’s appointees of self-interest

Galadima, who once held higher hopes for Tinubu’s leadership when he took office, expressed disappointment with the president’s current performance. He emphasized that what Nigerians need most right now are solutions to their economic struggles, not a reshuffling of the cabinet.

He said; “That [planned cabinet reshuffle] has nothing to do with me or any Nigerian. What is of importance to all of us is bringing down the harsh conditions of living and the buck stops only on the table of one man

“That is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. No amount of reshuffling can make a difference. As far as that team is only ‘job for the boys,’ nothing will come out of it.”

“Anybody that calls himself president or governor” is accountable for their cabinet’s actions

“He should be told that some of his appointees are more interested in their pockets than service delivery.”

“I expected him to do better than this; and to hit the ground running,” he said. Galadima also called on the president to urgently address the country’s foreign exchange crisis, which has seen the naira continue to decline in value.
