Femi Falana denies having any conversation with Bobrisky; demands retraction of defamatory statement from VDM

Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, has refuted claims of any conversation with Bobrisky about securing a presidential pardon. The controversy arose after social activist VeryDarkMan released an alleged audio recording in which Bobrisky claimed that rapper Falz had contacted him, stating that his father, Femi Falana, could help clear Bobrisky’s criminal record through a presidential pardon.

In the recording, Bobrisky, serving a prison sentence at the time, asserted that Falana had begun the process but later informed him that a key individual was demanding N10 million.

In response, Falana, through a September 25 letter issued by his legal representative Taiwo Olawanle, condemned the allegations as a malicious attempt to tarnish his reputation. He firmly denied ever having spoken to Bobrisky about a pardon or any other matter.

The senior lawyer demanded an immediate retraction of the publication and a public apology from VeryDarkMan, to be issued across all his platforms within 24 hours.

“The entire publication was a vicious, wicked and reckless ploy to impugn the reputation of our client and lower him in the estimation of right-thinking members of the public. We wish to state, without any fear of contradiction, that our client has never, in his life, spoken to Bobrisky on his alleged pardon or on any matter whatsoever.

We, therefore, demand immediate retraction of the offensive and derogatory publication as well as an apology prominently published in all the platforms to which you have disseminated it without any justification whatsoever.

Be advised that if we do not receive your formal retraction and apology as demanded within 24 (twenty-four) hours of the receipt hereof, we shall proceed with our client’s instructions to seek appropriate legal remedies, including monetary damages, against you for your incendiary publication and dissemination of defamatory statements,” part of the letter read
