‘I got married to avoid backlash for selling sex products – Jaruma
Controversial self-acclaimed sex therapist, Hauwa Mohammed, widely known as Jaruma, has revealed the reason behind her decision to get married. Jaruma tied the knot with Ross Fahad Isabor in 2018, and their marriage, which ended in 2021, produced a child.
During an interview on the ‘Issues and Society’ podcast, Jaruma explained that she married due to the severe criticism she faced from northerners for selling aphrodisiacs while being single.
According to her; “There was massive criticism from the north because I was selling sex products as a single lady. They wondered why people allowed a single lady to teach them what happens in the bedroom for lots of money.
“It wasn’t easy at all. The sex industry is a multi-billion industry, I have made N760 million in 3 years. So I thought the industry would not die and I have a booming business so I can’t just leave because of the heat I was going through.
“I just said if marriage is the problem, let me just do it. I didn’t get married because of love, I got married a month after meeting my ex-husband just to get away from the pressure I got from the north.
“He knew it was not for love but pressure because I told him.”
