We were deceived. We didn’t know we were coming to do a counter-protest – Women who staged ‘say no to protest’ rally in Abuja two days ago lament

Nigerian women who participated in the “Say No to Protest” rally in Abuja two days ago have claimed they were deceived and manipulated into joining the event.

In a viral video, one woman lamented and alleged that they had come to the FCT for an empowerment program but were instead made to carry placards with various messages opposing the planned protest against hardship.

An X-user who translated what was said in the video stated that one of the women who spoke in Hausa said

‘’They were deceived.

They told them that they’d help them with food

They didn’t tell them it was a protest but a gathering so items would be distributed to them Now they’ve left them without money food, water and transport fare”
