Tinubu approves N70,000 minimum wage
President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers and committed to reviewing the national minimum wage law every three years.
This announcement was made by Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information, at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, July 18. The decision was disclosed during an ongoing meeting with leaders of the organized labour unions.
Prominent figures at the meeting included Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Comrade Festus Usifo, President of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), along with several members of their unions.
The labour leaders had advocated for a minimum wage of N250,000.
