Purchase of new presidential Jets: There’s nothing wrong with what Peter Obi said, our politicians are outlandishly flamboyant – Dele Momodu

Media personality Dele Momodu has criticized presidential aide Bayo Onanuga for questioning Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi’s stance against purchasing new presidential jets.

Onanuga had labeled Obi’s comment as insensitive and asked if he preferred risking the President’s life by using faulty aircraft.

Reacting to this, Dele Momodu defended Obi, saying nothing was wrong with his statement. He added that in these difficult times, it’s not essential for a country to maintain presidential jets. Momodu pointed out that President Bola Tinubu owned private jets before his presidency and suggested that Tinubu could set an example by downsizing, using his private jets, and having his entourage fly commercial when necessary.

He wrote; “In these hard times, there’s no compulsory reason for a country to own Presidential jets. In fact, it is an overindulgence. ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU owned private jets ever before he was declared President. He can demonstrate the SACRIFICE he preaches by downsizing and returning to them and requesting his retinue to go commercial when absolutely necessary. AIR PEACE has a fleet of Boeing 777 that can be hired for long haul flights and this will keep them in business. Trouble is our politicians are outlandishly flamboyant… There’s nothing wrong with what PETER OBI said and suggested.”
