President Tinubu flies two private jets to South Africa, avoids presidential aircraft

President Bola Tinubu and his entourage flew two private jets from Lagos to Pretoria on Tuesday, June 18, to attend the inauguration of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

According to Punch, a source saw the President departing Lagos after spending the Eid holiday and mentioned that he left with his team in two private jets as the presidential jets were no longer in good shape.

The President reportedly left the Presidential Wing of Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, on a Dassault Falcon 8X aircraft around 11:06 am.

Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale confirmed that the President would attend Ramaphosa’s inauguration following his re-election for a second term.

This event occurred just 24 hours after the Presidency responded to the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, who objected to the demand for new aircraft for the presidential fleet. The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence had recently recommended the Federal Government purchase a new aircraft for President Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
