Release people arrested during ENDSARS protest. They are your children and grandchildren – Senator Shehu Sani appeals to President Tinubu
Senator Shehu Sani has urged President Bola Tinubu to pardon the young protesters who were arrested and are still being detained over the #EndSARS protest in 2020.
In 2020, Nigerian youths took to the streets to protest against police brutality and the country’s dire situation. These protests led to attacks on police stations, formations, and officers nationwide. While some of the arrested protesters have been released, others are believed to still be held in various police stations.
During the Democracy Day Presidential dinner at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja, Sani argued that those involved in the protests should be recognized as champions of democracy.
Senator Sani emphasized that he and his peers, who fought to establish democracy in Nigeria, learned from President Tinubu the importance of being resolute, much like the #EndSARS protesters.
