It is shocking – Shahu Sani reacts to Governors rejecting N60,000 minimum wage
Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has expressed shock at the governors’ opposition to a proposed N60,000 minimum wage for civil servants.
During recent negotiations, the Federal Government offered N60,000 as a new minimum wage, which was rejected by organized labor demanding over N400,000.
Additionally, governors of the 36 states also rejected the N60,000 proposal, citing it as unrealistic and potentially forcing some states to borrow to pay salaries. This stance surprised Sani, who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th Assembly.
“Governors’ opposition to N60,000 as minimum wage in spite of the unprecedented increase in Federal allocation is shocking,” Sani wrote on X.
