Former Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu is dead. His death was confirmed on Thursday, April 11, by a source who informed Tribune Online that the 77-year-old former governor of Abia State succumbed to a brief illness at an undisclosed hospital in Nigeria.
Until his demise in April 2024, Onu was a prominent Nigerian politician, author, and engineer. He held the distinction of being Abia State’s first civilian governor and served as Nigeria’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation from November 2015 until his resignation in 2022. Notably, he held the position of the longest-serving minister in the ministry.
