Bandits abduct 200 students, staff in Kaduna State
On Thursday morning, bandits raided LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1), located in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping numerous pupils and teachers.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8:20 am, shortly after the morning assembly.
Local residents indicated that the Headteacher of the school and several other staff members were among those abducted.
Former Kaduna senator, Shehu Sani, expressed dismay over the incident but remained hopeful for the safe release of the victims.
‘’It’s tragic to hear that 232 students have just been kidnapped in Kuriga village, Chikun LG in Kaduna State.
“It’s the same village where a school principal, Idris Sufyan was killed and his wife kidnapped over a month ago. However, I’m optimistic their freedom will be secured,’’ he said.
A few years ago, the junior and secondary schools relocated to a school building within Kuriga town due to security reasons, leaving their previous location outside the town.
Bandits stormed the LGEA Primary School, Kuriga (1) in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, kidnapping numerous pupils and teachers. Residents, including Shitu and Lawal Kuriga, confirmed the incident, stating that many pupils fled when they saw the bandits.
The abducted victims were reportedly taken into the forest. As of now, there has been no official response from the state government or the police. The number of abducted individuals, as claimed by the former senator, remains unverified by the police.
