Maintain peace. You are not the only voice of Nigeria – Tinubu warns NLC against strike

During the commissioning of the Lagos Red Line rail on Thursday, February 29, President Bola Tinubu cautioned the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to prioritize peace and desist from frequent strikes, emphasizing that they do not represent the sole voice of Nigerians.

The statement from Tinubu came in response to protests by the NLC and affiliated unions on Tuesday, February 27, regarding concerns such as the high cost of living, inflation, insecurity, and general hardship experienced in the country.

“Allow me to throw a jab here. The Labour Union should understand that you’re not the only one with freedom & rights.

If you want to participate in the electoral process, meet us in 2027.

If not, maintain peace. You’re not the only voice of Nigeria.”
