NDLEA arrests 75-year-old woman for drug trafficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended a 75-year-old woman named Sekinat Soremekun for engaging in the illicit drug trade in Lagos State.

The arrest took place in the Oshodi area of Lagos State on Friday, December 15, 2023. This information was disclosed by Femi Babafemi, the spokesperson for the anti-drug agency, in a statement released on Sunday, December 17.

The NDLEA spokesman shared that the woman said her son who is currently at large supplied her the illicit substances which she retailed

The statement reads: “Meanwhile, NDLEA operatives in Lagos on Friday 15th December arrested a 75-year-old grandma, Mrs. Sekinat Soremekun for dealing in illicit drugs. At the time of her arrest in Oshodi area of Lagos, quantities of cannabis and litres of codeine syrup were recovered from her. She claimed her son, Segun who is now at large supplied her the illicit substances which she retailed.”
