Nigerian woman arrested in India for possession of Methamphetamine
The Gujarat-based Banaskantha police in India apprehended a Nigerian woman, Nwakaego Paul, and confiscated a significant quantity of methamphetamine, a banned psychotropic substance valued at Rs 4.26 crore.
According to Akshayraj Makwana, the superintendent of police for Banaskantha district, in a statement on November 8, 2023, the accused, who lived in Delhi, was allegedly en route to Mumbai to deliver the illicit substance.
The arrest took place during a late-night interception on November 7 when Paul was traveling on a private luxury bus. Acting on reliable information, the police stopped the bus at the Amirgadh check-post as it entered the district from Rajasthan.
Upon inspection, law enforcement found 4.26kg of methamphetamine in her possession. Makwana mentioned that the accused had obtained the drugs from an undisclosed source in Delhi. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover her connections and the drug’s origin.
The police investigation has revealed that Nwakaego Paul entered India in 2021 on a two-month visa and had been residing in the Deepak Vihar area of Delhi.
