Tinubu’s Certificate Saga: Uninformed outsiders now see every Nigerian as a fraudster, certificate forger, or identity thief – Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate representing the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, expressed concern that President Bola Tinubu’s certificate controversy has exacerbated Nigeria’s already tarnished global image.

Obi conveyed these remarks during a press conference held in Abuja on Wednesday, October 11.

According to him, uninformed outsiders will now see every Nigerian as a fraudster, certificate forger or identity thief.

He said: “To the outsiders, the entire Chicago University matter, as well as Chief Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s many other lingering identity, question marks have further worsened Nigeria’s less than glorious image internationally.

“Uninformed outsiders now see every Nigerian as a fraudster, certificate forger, or identity thief. The controversy is unnecessary, and the implicit global embarrassment could have been avoided.”

Obi called on Tinubu to save Nigeria from embarrassment by revealing his true identity.

He said: “Tinubu should humbly and respectfully reveal his identity. Let the world know your name, nationality, certificates.

“You should indicate clearly where you did your NYSC. If there was change of name, make it clear. The task is for Tinubu to urgently reveal his identity. People want to know your true identity. A leader cannot leave his identity to be revealed by proxies.”
