Rivers government shuts down AIT, Raypower operations

The Rivers State Government has taken the decision to close down the operations of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM in Port Harcourt.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the media organization revealed that the State Government executed the shutdown of its operations with the assistance of contracted telecommunications engineers, who were accompanied by armed security personnel.

The telecommunications contractor’s official told the organization that they were working on a directive from above to commence demolition on Sunday.

“The contractors disconnected the wave guard from the antenna on the mast while riggers were seen dismantling the mast.

“Also, bulldozers were deployed to demolish the Transmitter Complex at DAAR Communications PLC Broadcast Centre,” it said.
