Lagos govt takes over case of 13-year-old boy with ‘missing intestine’

The Lagos State Government has assumed responsibility for the medical care of Adebola Akin-Bright, a 13-year-old boy, who reportedly had his small intestine go missing during his treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja.

During a visit to Akin-Bright and his mother, Mrs. Deborah Abiodun, at the Pediatric Ward of LASUTH, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos announced this development.

In response to a social media plea labeled “Save Our Souls” (SoS) by Abiodun, she had appealed to the Governor to investigate the mysterious disappearance of her son’s intestine, asserting that it happened while he was receiving treatment.

In a swift response to these allegations, LASUTH’s management stated that they did not intentionally remove any organ or structure from Akin-Bright’s body while conducting corrective surgery on him.

The victim had previously undergone surgery at a private hospital in Lagos.

”He (Akin-Bright) required extensive optimisation in our facility before a corrective surgery could be carried out. The surgery, which was carried out by an experienced pediatric surgeon and her team, revealed certain strange findings.

”There is a video clip of these findings. The mother was informed about these findings but she appeared to be in denial,” LASUTH management said.
