“All eyes on the judiciary” slogan should not offend a right-thinking and sincere individual – Atedo Peterside
Atedo Peterside, the founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, has asserted that the controversial slogan “All Eyes On The Judiciary” is not intended to be offensive.
The slogan, prominently displayed on billboards across the country, appeared as the presidential election tribunal prepared to announce its decision on petitions challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the general election.
The Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON) had demanded the removal of these billboards, sponsored by the group Diasporas for Good Governance. ARCON, which disbanded its Advertising Standards Panel and suspended the director and deputy director of regulations for endorsing the billboards, argued that the message made judges vulnerable.
Reacting to this, Peterside expressed that the slogan shouldn’t be perceived as offensive by individuals with reasonable judgment.
He tweeted; For the record, methinks #AllEyesOnTheJudiciary is a neutral slogan that should ordinarily not offend a right-thinking and sincere person in a civilised society.I can understand someone rejecting a negative slogan like let us turn our noses up at the judiciary. Enough said”.
that is true……
