The Federal Government of Nigeria has encouraged the Super Falcons not to become complacent following their 3-2 victory over Australia in the group stage tie on Thursday.

The government has urged Randy Waldrum’s team to give their utmost in the upcoming match, assuring them of solid support from the Nigerian people.

Alhaji Ismaila Abubakar, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Sports and Youth Development, conveyed these requests in a statement released by Mohammed Manga, the Director of Press in the ministry, on Thursday in Abuja. Additionally, Abubakar praised the Super Falcons for their outstanding performance in defeating the co-hosts, Australia, in Brisbane.

He said, “We have followed your games and want to thank you for making the nation proud, thus putting a smile on the faces of Nigerians.

“We commend you, your coaches and the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) for the good job done so far.

“You cannot afford to rest on your oars, take the next game against the Republic of Ireland with full determination to succeed as you took your first two games.

“Give it your very best, which is your 100 per cent assurance to win. We are solidly behind you.”
