Nigerian Singer, Humble Smith has shared a personal story about a difficult period in his life. He revealed that back in 2015, he was on the brink of resorting to begging to survive, but a divine intervention changed his circumstances.
During an interview on Hip TV’s Trending with Reality star Kimoprah, the 32-year-old artist opened up about his struggles to break into the music industry. Despite working on multiple musical projects, including shooting a music video in London, Humble Smith faced challenges in gaining recognition.
He explained that the inspiration for his hit song, ‘Osinachi,’ came to him while he was inside a church in Lagos, where he had initially gone to seek assistance. However, upon entering the church, he had a realization that he was not meant to be a beggar. It was in that moment that he received the divine blessing of the song.
Humble Smith emphasized that ‘Osinachi’ is a deeply personal and authentic story that resonates with everyone. Each lyric in the song reflects his own experiences. He wrote the song inside the church where he had initially planned to ask for financial help to feed himself.
Regarding the involvement of Phyno on the original version of the song and the collaboration with Davido for the remix, Humble Smith explained that his team believed that featuring established superstars would propel the song to greater heights. They approached Phyno, whose contribution helped the song gain momentum. Subsequently, Davido expressed interest in doing a remix, which further elevated its popularity. Humble Smith expressed his immense gratitude to Davido for the opportunity.
