DSS arrests Emefiele minutes after suspension by Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu suspended the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele from office with immediate effect and he has been arrested by the Department of State Services, DSS.

According to a terse statement by Willie Bassey Director, Information Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation on Friday night, Emefiele’s suspension is sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy

Tinubu also appointed Mr Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, in replacement for Emefiele.
