My world crumbled after discovering my hubby impregnated his ex – Toke Makinwa

Media Personality, Toke Makinwa has revealed her devastation upon discovering that her estranged husband, Maje Ayida, had impregnated his ex-girlfriend.

Makinwa disclosed this during the latest episode of her YouTube vlog series, Toke Moments. She shared that she became aware of the pregnancy when it was already nine months along.

The actress recounted how her job became her solace during that difficult period, as she insisted on continuing to work despite being emotionally shattered by her husband’s infidelity.

She recalled a specific incident when she walked into the radio studio early in the morning, only to receive a call from the owner of the station, who informed her that people were talking about her situation and suggested that she go home.

Despite the turmoil, she found solace in her work and had developed a coping mechanism of leaving her emotions behind as she entered the studio. She understood that her role was to entertain and inform the millions of listeners relying on her, allowing her to temporarily set aside her personal struggles.

She said; “I think that [my job] was the only thing that I was sure of in my life. Every other thing that was familiar has failed. The world that I had built had crumbled. And the only thing that I was sure of, was my job.

“I remember walking into the [radio] studio, and like 7am the World News goes on. And there is a call from the owner of the radio station, and he is like, ‘everyone is talking about you, I don’t want to get into it but people are thinking you would literally fall apart. I think you need to go home.”

She said she could cope with work because she learnt earlier “to leave her feelings at the door and then pick them up when you are on your way home. So, once you walk into the studio, it’s not about you. It’s about the millions of people who are trying to make their ways to work; they are the ones who are tuning in expecting to get entertained, informed, and on top of what is going in the world.”
