I provide exclusive babies for families with infertility issues not for rituals, the infants are priced between 1.4m to 1.5m – Woman arrested for operating baby-making factory in Rivers state

Akudo Azoroh, a woman apprehended for allegedly operating a baby factory in Rivers State, confessed to law enforcement officials that she engages in selling the infants for prices ranging from N1.4 million to N1.5 million, depending on their gender.

It was reported that law enforcement agents conducted a raid on the child trafficking center located in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, resulting in the rescue of six young pregnant women. These women, aged between 20 and 23 years, were being housed with the intention of trading their newborns after delivery.

During his first media briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, May 31, the newly appointed State Commissioner of Police, Polycarp Nwonyi, revealed that Azoroh, the operator of the child trafficking center, and her accomplice were apprehended by the police during the operation.

While confessing to running the illicit business, the suspect claimed that she only places the babies with families who are unable to have children, vehemently denying any involvement with ritualistic practices.

Mrs. Azoroh asserted that the young women were already pregnant when they approached her, stating that she compensates the girls with amounts ranging from N800,000 to N900,000, depending on the stage of pregnancy at the time of their arrival and the gender of the child they ultimately deliver.

“I have previously facilitated the adoption of six children; I initiated this business three years ago. None of the girls were impregnated by boys under my watch. They were already pregnant when they sought my assistance willingly,” she explained.

“I exclusively provide babies to families experiencing infertility and not to individuals involved in rituals. The infants are priced between N1.4 million and N1.5 million, depending on their gender, while the mothers are compensated based on the stage of pregnancy during their arrival.”
