Adamawa: Buhari does not interfere in elections – Lai Mohammed
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari does not interfere in elections. This statement was made in response to the controversies surrounding the recently concluded governorship election in Adamawa State.
During a press briefing after the Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Lai Mohammed emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address any infractions, such as that of the suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Hudu Ari. Furthermore, the Minister stated that he has not received any petition to sanction the REC, who he described as an INEC employee.
According to Lai Mohammed, the President does not micromanage any institution, and his government has never intervened in the conduct of INEC’s elections.
