Russia-Ukraine: Visa-free access through Romania, Hungary borders guaranteed – FG advises stranded Nigerians

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has advised Nigerians stranded at the Ukraine-Poland border to consider Romanian or Hungary border.

The Minister said he has spoken with his counterpart in Ukraine and they are working on alleviating the suffering of Nigerians, but advised Nigerians to use Romanian, Hungary borders for movement at the moment.

This was according to a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda.

Part of the statement read: “For now, movement to the Hungarian Zahony border and Romania Suceava, Tulcea, Satu Mare County, and Maramures is advised as they have approved Visa free access to all Nigerians coming from Ukraine and arrangement for feeding and accommodation before evacuation is arranged.”

The minister also appealed to parents of Nigerian students to remain calm. He assured them that the Federal Government was working very hard to secure the safety of their wards back home.
