Sheikh Gumi berates politicians who flew private jets to Yusuf Buhari’s wedding
Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has slammed politicians who hired private jets to attend the wedding of Yusuf Buhari, son of President Buhari. Yusuf and his wife, Zahra Bayero, in Kano last Friday, August 20
The wedding which was attended by well known dignitaries including former Nigerian leaders, diplomats, businessmen, monarchs and many others saw a large number of private jets that flew into the Aminu Kano International Airport for the occasion.
Reacting to this while preaching at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna over the weekend, Gumi said the politicians displayed wealth amid abject poverty in the country.
“Umar bn Kattab once took 16 dinar, which is equivalent of N2,040,000 today, from the treasury as estacode to Hajj. After their return, Umar admitted to Abdallah that they wasted public funds. Somebody told me private jets in Nigeria were all hired for the wedding of Buhari’s son.Some people are in captivity in the bushes and cities. Hunger is everywhere. People are facing all manner of problems, yet politicians spent public funds on private jets,” he said
That’s where we put ourselves, when some people are wallowing in abject poverty while few are mesmerized with public funds
I don’t think we have leaders at all, the one we have is cheaters if not they won’t hire jet for a single day program
Many of them do not have conscience because if they do, they won’t behave in such manner
That’s what they want, they don’t want us to be living in conducive and comfort manner, all what they want for us is poverty
