Presidential aide, Tolu Ogunlesi, explains why a Major General was chosen as the new Chief of Army Staff

Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi has explained why a Major General was chosen to replace Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, the immediate past Army Chief who died in a plane crash last Friday, May 21. President Buhari had on Thursday, May 27, announced Maj. Gen. Faruk Yahaya as Attahiru’s replacement.

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili, Reacting to this via her Twitter handle questioned why a Major General was appointed as the new Chief of Army Staff. .

She wrote

”Does this appointment of a Major General as Chief of Army Staff by @NGRPresident mean we shall lose some of the best of our Senior Officers of the @HQNigerianArmy ? I hope not.” Tolu saw her comment and responded, explaining why a Major General was picked.
