FG orders GoTv, Startimes to migrate to freeTv platform
The Federal Government has directed GoTv and Startimes to migrate their signals to the two licensed FreeTv signal distributors in Nigeria.
This was in a directive from Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information and Culture. He said it was in line with the Digital Switch Over (DSO) process.
Disclosing this on Thursday in Abuja, the Minister said the laws of the land recognises a single frequency network that is being operated by two licensed signal distributors, Integrated Television Services (ITS) and Pinnacle Communications.
Mohammed said the two Pay televisions, Startimes and GoTv are currently carrying their respective signals.
“We have directed National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to ask Gotv and Startimes to go to either Pinnacle of ITS. They cannot carry their signals and that is the only way the licensed signal distributors can survive,’’ he said
Mohammed assured that the DSO would enable Nigerians to have the access to many television stations as well as have access to quality pictures and programs with no monthly subscription.
It will be okay if they can do that for the benefit of the citizens
that is a good moves……
I hope it won’t affect the cost of subscription
It’s good if it will have benefit on nigerans
I think it won’t cause any problem among those people
I think these directives will not Push go TV and startime out of business on Nigeria
