Herdsmen-Farmers Clash: All States must have Ruga – Matawalle
Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has suggested that Ruga be embraced in all states in order to curtail herdsmen and farmers clash.
He spoke to reporters after his visit to the president to give the latest security report in his state
Matawalle said a presidential intervention was necessary “to sustain the peace Zamfara is now enjoying’’ adding that solution to the recurring violence between farmers and herders “is in sight”.
“All state governments must brace up and construct grazing grounds, popularly called Ruga, so as to find a lasting solution to clashes between herdsmen and farmers across the country,” he said.
Matawalle expressed confidence that the provision of the grazing grounds will discourage herdsmen’s desire for relocation.
“In Zamfara, we are constructing Ruga for them. If we allow them to keep moving around, migrating from one State to another, we cannot bring this issue to an end,” he stated.
He added that governors were discussing ways to contain herders in one place. Matawalle warned that constant migration will continue to create problems in Nigeria.
When they migrated from one state to another, they will be claiming that they are the one who owns the land after spending years on it.
If the governors could find lasting solution to the problem of farmers and herders, it will solve the crises of food in the country.
We don’t want war in the country because war is not not like honey that we will embraced, they should do something about it.
that is best solution to this problems…..
Why can’t individual who wants to rear cattle set up the ranch by themselves? This is worrisome in the country.
You lie, you don’t know the solution. It’s not by that a state must have Ruga, this cow business is a personal problem business for crying out loud, why using it to trouble the whole country?
