Valentine’s day not sex party – Cleric warns youths
Pastor Joshua Olusegun of Christ Reigns Church has warned youths not to turn the Valentine’s Day celebration to sex parties.
He said this speaking with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ilorin.
He said he has observed that most people think Valentine’s Day celebration is a time to copulate with the opposite sex, and said the thought was not correct.
“It is not for sex parties as thought by many teenagers and youths. They can give out gifts, visit beautiful places around and as well care for one another as a sign of celebration.
“We need to erase the mentality of engaging in sexual acts to show love as widely believed by our youths,” he said.
He warned youths not to lose their virginity all in the name of celebrating Valentine’s Day.
The cleric stressed the need for religious leaders to preach morality to their followers on the ethics of Valentine celebration.
He also warned that the celebration is for adults and not minors who engage in immoral acts in the name of celebrating the day of Love.
