Presidency first to defend Herdsmen when they Kill People — Odumakin
The pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has asked the Presidency to stop acting as the mouthpiece of the Fulani herdsmen.
Speaking during a programme on Monday on Arise TV, Afenifere National Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin slammed the presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu, for defending the herders when the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, gave a lawful order for herdsmen to vacate the forest reserves in the state.
He said: “Unfortunately, we don’t have a government that is governmental. Instead of the government defending the right to life of the people, you see that any time these herdsmen kill people, the first line of defense is the spokesmen of the Presidency, they are the first to defend them.
“It was Garba Shehu that first defended the rights of the herdsmen to the forest as if their animals are now human beings.”
Odumakin also knocked some Northern leaders for maintaining a conspiracy of silence when the herdsmen were attacking and killings the Yoruba people.
The Afenifere spokesman wondered why the leaders started speaking when the victims of herdsmen attack decided to rise up in resistance.
“We have not heard anything about sorry from any of them, now they are talking because the victims are saying we have had enough of it, he said
that is true and it’s cuz the president is Fulani himself….
Herdsmen are fulani and the person that is ruling us is also fulani man, then, what do you expect from him? Why won’t he defend them.
This is saddened in the country where we found ourselves in which the leadership of the country value cattle than her citizens, that is wickedness of the highest order.
