Lagos cannot afford another total lockdown – Sanwo-Olu

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has insisted that the state cannot afford another lockdown. The Governor made this known in a statement released on Saturday after he ordered schools to close indefinitely and civil servants to work from home, as the second wave of COVID-19 sweeps across Nigeria.

He said; “Yesterday, we issued guidelines to help us in the next phase of our battle with the virus. Lagosians have relaxed and the effects are evident with increasing cases and unfortunate deaths.

“These guidelines will affect us all but we need to be strong and we need to persevere.

“We cannot afford another total lockdown so I enjoin us to keep observing the prescribed protocols and the required lifestyle adjustments that will help us enter 2021 stronger, healthier and safer,” the statement reads in part

  1. May we not experience such tribulation anymore and enjoin everyone of us to adhere strictly to the protocol and guidelines.

  2. May Almighty God come to our rescue because we don’t have the power to acquire your grievances. Please, we are begging you.

  3. This is what you people (leaders) caused for ourselves, if you have done the needful in the first instance it won’t degenerate to this level.

    1. We have not overcome the previous lock down not to talk of another one, we should be careful with whatever we engage in, we need adhere strictly to the COVID-19 rules in order not to let it spread over the state and across the country in this Yuletide.

  4. You are rightly on point considering the amount of losses that were incurred due to the previous lockdown
But having said that I will also be very very quick to add that nothing whatsoever is more precious than life
Life is the most important and it is the person that is alive that will start to count what he or she has lost
When you are down nothing comes to your mind again
It is also so sad that most of the people don’t agree to obey the safety rules laid down to curb the spread of covid
