ASUU agrees to call off strike as FG increases payment to N70b
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has agreed to call off the strike following a decision reached during a meeting in Abuja between the union and the federal government delegation led by the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige.
Based on agreements between the two parties, the government promised to increase the total payment to the union to N70 billion.
The government stated that it would pay N40 billion as the Earned Allowance and N30bn for the revitalization of the university system to bring the total to N70 billion.
The FG further agreed to settle the arrears of salaries of the lecturers before December 4.

Upon the long discussion and dialogue, thank God that students will resume back their academic session.
At last, but it’s unfortunate to allow students to sit at for eight months.
They should better do, especially government should answer them and let the lecture commends immediately.
This is what students have been waiting for, once the federal government play their part ASUU will also do their own part.
Asuu must not agree to this o. They have to settle everything one’s and for all. Not latter they will go again
I hope they did not call it off under duress
I also pray the government lives up to the agreement so as to avert this type of long strike again
