“Practicing Journalism in Nigeria is a waste of time, the media has been gagged” – Journalist, Mary-Ann Duke Okon
Nigerian Journalist, Mary-Ann Duke Okon has termed practicing journalism in Nigeria as a waste of time.
She took to Twitter to lament that the media has been outrightly gagged and not allowed to freely do it’s job.
She further shared that she is considering leaving the country and open to working outside Nigeria.
She wrote;
”Practicing journalism in Nigeria is almost a waste of time these days, as the media is outrightly being gagged and not allowed to freely do its job. I’m officially open to working outside Nigeria, I’m seriously considering moving away and practicing anywhere else but here!.’
That’s Nigeria government for you, yet they are still proposing online census which won’t allow us to their atrocities being committed by them.
Not only journalism, everything has been gagged by the government. They don’t want us to know their secret.
Look at the situation when #endsars were protesting, the radio stations or media houses that air what is going on in the country, they even threaten to sanction them.
If you have the opportunity to travel out of the country, you better do. All these leaders don’t want us to excel in our dealings.
You no lie my sister
That is true and even this administration made everything worse…
wahala for who no know
The the best thing to do…this government will frustrate your career.
Seriously gagged. They are told what to report and what not to as if we are in military regime that is characterized by authoritarian rule
